Project Description
Beaver Constructors, Inc. was awarded the Construction Manager at Risk contract for the Stark Food Collaborative Center by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The $10 million, multi-story pre-engineered metal building has approximately 46,000 sf of purpose-built workspace. The facility, located on Cherry Avenue, includes warehouse storage with six loading docks, 6,000 sf of custom designed freezer/cooler, a volunteer center, large conference rooms to host events, office spaces to house over 20 employees, a food prep educational kitchen, and a marketplace food pantry.
The CMR contract began January 2019. After heavy design modifications and extensive value engineering exercises, construction started in the Spring of 2020. Construction continued throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and was completed in the Summer of 2021 as originally scheduled.
